-goodbye to you, my friend-

as i walked into the high dependency ward
i saw how a healthy young man
become so sick, so frail
images of him when he was good came flooding back

and hey to whoever is reading
life's short, treasure it
you really wont know when and what will happen to you
what legacy will you leave behind ?

as i was walking to the station with Don
words like "strong, blessed" come up
how he will not show others that he's sick
how he will continue to fight on till his very very last breath
and you my friend, goodbye.
and below, a song for all
and the lyrics are definitely worth reading over and over again

Legacy

I don't mind if you've got something nice to say about me
And I enjoy an accolade like the rest
And you can take my picture and hang it in a gallery
Of all the Who's Who's and So-and-So's
That used to be the best at such and such
It wouldn't matter much

I won't lie, it feels alright to see your name in lights
We all need an "Atta boy" or "Atta girl"
But in the end I'd like to hang my hat on more besides
The temporary trappings of this world

I want to leave a legacy
How will they remember me?
Did I choose to love?
Did I point to You enough To make a mark on things
I want to leave an offering
A child of mercy and grace
Who blessed Your name unapologetically
And leave that kind of legacy

I don't have to look too far or too long awhile
To make a lengthy list of all that I enjoy
It's an accumulating trinket and a treasure pile
Where moth and rust, thieves and such will soon
Enough destroy

I want to leave a legacy
How will they remember me?
Did I choose to love?
Did I point to You enough
To make a mark on things
I want to leave an offering
A child of mercy and grace
Who blessed Your name unapologetically
And leave that kind of legacy

Not well-traveled, not well-read
Not well-to-do, or well-bred
Just want to hear instead
Well done, good and faithful one

I want to leave a legacy
How will they remember me?
Did I choose to love?
Did I point to You enough
To make a mark on things
I want to leave an offering
A child of mercy and grace
Who blessed Your name unapologetically
And leave that kind of legacy

I don't mind if you've got something nice to say about me

and if one day when i pass on,
i want to leave behind a legacy
i want my eulogy to go like this
"a someone who has impacted lives using her own life as an example,
a someone who is selfless and one that is truly after God's own heart.
someone who is willing to go the extra mile, someone whom carries the presence of God with her wherever she goes, one whom we've never regret knowing
one who practise what she preach and a woman, whom i can say, had fought and won the heart of the King"

you know how some heroes of the bible are remembered for what they have done ?
how King David is known as someone who is after God's own heart, who, though in bad times, still choose God?
how Noah was known for building the ark even when people laughed at him
how Abraham was remembered for obeying every single thing God says, even if it's to sacrifice his only son
how Mary was known was trusting and believing God despite the mockery
how Jesus was known for dying on the cross for our sins

how you will be remembered will be based on the things you've done
will you leave behind a legacy is based on the decisions you make today
and by that, i choose to stand up again
and fight on.
for the heart of the King.
